I firmly believe in caring and holism, which are vital and heavily embedded in my nursing experience and education. I have learned to care for patients starting from the bottom up, from making their beds, helping them eat, and administering medications, all the way to holding one's hand during their last breath. As a nurse, I have sat down and shared stories with patients and made sure proper reporting was done to ensure that their physicians knew of their condition promptly so they could get the treatment they deserved.
As I have moved forward in my education and became a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I have been given the opportunity to learn new knowledge and enhance the skills I gained from my undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN). Between my work/volunteer experiences as a registered nurse, and now as a PMHNP, I can now diagnose, prescribe medications and treat those struggling with mental health conditions.
I feel blessed to have my nursing education and experience. it is an indispensable asset as a psychiatric provider and in caring for others. It is of utmost importance that individuals are not merely viewed based on their mental health diseases but also consider various aspects of their individuality. These include cultural background, epigenetic, age, gender, socioeconomic status, and environment as a big part of their identity. Caring and holism are heavily emphasized as immutable elements in how every team member at Autumn Leaves delivers patient care.
Autumn leaves team members pride themselves on the value of morality, ethical care delivery, justice, beneficence, non-maleficence, accountability, autonomy, fidelity, and veracity, which are the standards of care highly upheld in the nursing profession. Moreover, let's be honest, all these values are paramount in the world we live in today.
